Select a track and it loads on the deck at the top of the window, with its waveform, its overview and its readings. The deck works like a CDJ: hot cues, memory cues and loops you set here go on your USB drive and into your Traktor exports.
Play and move around
- Press Space, or the play button, to play or pause. Enter plays the selected track from the start.
- Click the waveform or its overview to move the playhead there. With Q (quantize) on, it lands on the nearest beat, and so do cues and loops.
- C is the cue button: while paused, it sets the cue point at the playhead, and holding it plays from there until you let go. While the track plays, it goes back to the cue point.
- The zoom buttons at the right of the toolbar show more or less of the track.
- Click plays a metronome on the beatgrid, accented on beat one.
A track loads on its first memory cue, or at the start when it has none.
Hot cues
The pads A to H are your hot cues.
- Click an empty pad, or press Alt+1 to Alt+8 (⌥1 to ⌥8 on a Mac), to set a hot cue at the playhead. If a loop is playing, the pad saves the loop as a hot loop instead, and it keeps playing.
- Click a pad with a cue to jump to it, or to start its loop.
- Alt+Shift+1 to 8 moves a hot cue to the playhead.
- Right-click a pad for Jump to cue, Rename… and Remove.
With the pointer over the waveform, H adds a hot cue at the playhead on the next free pad. Right-click the waveform for every pad, including Hot cues I to P. Players show hot cues A to H; later ones go on the drive as memory cues.
Memory cues
Memory (M) saves a memory cue at the playhead, or the playing loop as a memory loop. On a memory cue, it says so and a × removes it. Alt+← and Alt+→ call the memory cue before or after the playhead, and right-clicking Memory lists them all.
Loops
The loop control is ½×, the loop length, and ×2. Click the middle to loop that many beats from the playhead (4 to start with), and again to end the loop. ½× and ×2 halve and double it, from 1/64 of a beat to 512 beats. Loops need an analysed beatgrid.
For a loop of any length, put the playhead where it starts and press I with the pointer over the waveform (or right-click the waveform and choose Start loop here). Then put the playhead where it ends, right-click the waveform and choose Save loop to hot cue or Save loop as memory cue. Esc cancels the loop start.
Edit a cue
Right-click a cue or loop on the waveform and choose Rename cue… to change its type, pad, name, position, loop end or colour. Times can be typed as seconds or minutes and seconds, such as 1:04.512. Delete this cue removes it. A hot cue's colour starts as its pad's own colour.
The rest of the deck
- Right-click the cover for Replace artwork… or Remove artwork from file….
- The ⋯ button at the right of the deck holds Edit tags…, Rating and Colour.
- The arrow above it folds the deck to one bar when you need room for the library.
- Your keyboard's play, pause and track keys, and your computer's media controls, work with Solco's deck too.
Cues you set on a player come back into Solco with your next export to that drive. See "Exporting to a CDJ or XDJ USB drive", and "Keyboard shortcuts" for every key.
